Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie pan or deep-dish baking dish.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
-
In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir until well combined.
-
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture, mixing until smooth.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully incorporated.
-
Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
-
Pour the dough into the prepared pie dish and spread it evenly.
-
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is slightly set. The center will continue to firm up as it cools.
-
Allow the pie to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Customize the pie with other mix-ins like white chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for a fun twist.
If you prefer a nut-free version, simply omit the walnuts or use another nut, like pecans or almonds.
To make it gluten-free, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
